The FINA World championships in Indianapolis started sucessfully for Austrian swimmer Mirna Jukic. She finished 5th in the 50m breaststroke semifinals and qualified for todays final.

The 7th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) will take place in Indianapolis, United States. The event dates are Oct. 7-11, 2004 at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Markus Rogan won his second silver medal at the Olympic Games in Athens. Thursday night he finished second in the 200m backstroke final in 1:57,35. Winner: Aaron Peirsol (USA).

Markus Rogan won the first austrian medal in Athens. The 22-year old austrian won the silver medal in the 100m backstroke olympic final in 54,35 seconds. Aaron Peirsol (USA) won gold in 54,06 seconds.

European Record for Markus Rogan!

Austrian Markus Rogan set a new 200m backstroke European Short Course Record at the NCAA-Championships in East Meadow. With a time of 1:51,37 he improved the three year old record held by Gordan Kozuli of Croatia.

The Athens Organizing Committee has postponed a pre-Olympic swimming test event, due to some delay in the completion of the Swimming Complex. The swimming contest, also scheduled in LEN calendar on April 14-18, will instead be held on June 9-12.

World record-holder Ian Thorpe was disqualified from the 400-meter freestyle in the Australian Olympic trials Saturday after falling off the starting block.

Slovakia's Martina Moravcova and American Ed Moses were the overall winners of the 2003-2004 FINA Short Course World Cup competition. Each earned $15,000 USD for their performances throughout the event.

The seventeen year old Austrian landed in the fourth position after the last world cup event last weekend. The winner is Martina Moravcova from Slovakia.

Gold for Jukic!

17-year old Austrian Mirna Jukic won the gold medal in the 200m breaststroke event at the European Short Course Swimming Championchips in Dublin (December 11-14). On sunday she got third in the 100m final.
Also Austrian swimmers Markus Rogan (200m backstroke) an Fabienne Nadarajah (50m butterfly) won bronze in their final heats.
